Description

Up for auction is a diverse catalog of internationally-rooted electronic works, including this eclectic pop star Kiiara’s most popular track to date, “Gold.” Following its 2016 release, the 3X Platinum track found initial success on the radio, contributing to over 98% of this catalog’s historic radio revenue.

Since its initial radio debut, earnings for “Gold” have pivoted in favor of streaming platforms. “Gold” alone contributed to over 66% of streaming royalties to date. The track peaked on over 20 charts worldwide and currently boasts over 600 million streams collectively between Spotify and YouTube. Supporting its international reach, “Gold” currently holds a Platinum registered status in five countries, including two of this asset’s top-contributing countries, Australia and the United States.

In the last 12 months, satellite radio is showing the best year-over-year stability of this catalog's income sources. Nearly all of satellite radio earnings come from the massive success of the work “Gold.”

This listing also features additional Kiiara works including the 2017 release “Whippin” and “Dopeman Trippin’ (dopemang),” which collectively make up 15% of recent earnings. Released in 2016 “Dopeman Trippin’ (dopemang)” is currently on the rise, up 104% over the previous period.

Key Drivers

International & EDM. In line with the electronic genre as a whole, the majority of this catalog’s earnings come from abroad — at 56% of royalties collected in the last 12 months. According to the 2018 IMS Business Report, EDM as a genre sees most of its fan base overseas in Australia and the UK, among others. Historically, 31% of this collection’s earnings have accrued outside of the US. What’s interesting is, in line with this trend, half of this historic international revenue came from the United Kingdom and Australia.

As this collection continues to earn primarily from countries outside the United States, it’s important to note that international earnings can often be reported to distributors with limited detail. These international earnings often include income from radio, streaming platforms, and TV/Film. As the winner of this auction, you’ll be entitled to any past performance royalties paid by ASCAP, regardless of when they were earned.

New Releases. Kiiara recently released a new song, video, and various remixes in June 2019. While the new songs are not included in this auction, new releases can help boost an artist's back catalog. The release of this new music should draw discovery among first-time listeners and re-engage her existing fans.

Streaming & EDM. According to BuzzAngle’s 2018 report, as a genre, 87% of EDM (electronic) listeners tune in through on-demand streaming platforms like Spotify and YouTube. This is good news for you, as the winning investor will benefit from this collection’s strong streaming foundation – at over a third of royalties collected in the last 12 months. Top earning track for this collection “Gold” currently boasts over 600 million streams collectively between Spotify and YouTube. “Gold” is also performing artist Kiiara’s top -streamed work on Spotify.

It’s important to note, the EDM (electronic dance music) industry is currently valued at $7.4 billion, estimating that the global EDM industry could be worth nearly $9 billion by 2021. In fact, EDM as a genre is beginning to blend into mainstream culture, with crossover hits appearing in both pop and R&B categories. As the once-underground genre becomes deeper embedded in mainstream culture, crossover tracks bridge the gap between genres.
