Historic royalty income is no indication of future royalty income. Future royalty income is dependent upon future sales and licensing revenue generated by the sound recordings or compositions associated with this listing.

Up for bid are monthly sales and streaming royalties generated by a catalog of Afro Soca music from Nigerian vocalist Timaya.
This is a fixed-return asset, meaning the winning bidder will receive monthly payments until a total amount of $73,333 is collected (“Total Return”). The only variable is the amount of time it takes to collect that total. See the "Financials" tab for detailed return scenarios.
The catalog’s top earning source is Apple Music with 38% of returns in the last year. Royalties from Apple Music have stayed rather steady year-over-year.
Rounding out the leading income sources is Spotify (17%) along with Deezer (17%) and Amazon (16%) of earnings last year.
The catalog’s top song is “Don Dada” with 25% of last year’s royalties.
ABOUT THE CATALOG:
This collection features nine tracks from Nigerian singer/songwriter Timaya.
Timaya is widely known as a leader in the Afro Soca genre. Afro Soca is a fusion genre of afrobeats and soca music with some influences from dancehall. The genre was pioneered in Trinidad & Tobago by Nigerian and Trinidadian artists.
The catalog’s top song is “Don Dada,” a 2020 release with strong earnings from Deezer and Apple Music. Other notable tracks include “The Mood,” “Pull Up,” and “I Can’t Kill Myself” from the 2019 album Chulo Vibes.
To date, Timaya’s work has garnered several awards and nominations including four Headies Awards wins, two AFRIMMA Awards wins, one Nigeria Music Award, and an NEA Award.
Sound Recordings: Sound recording royalties benefit from streaming disproportionately more than composition-based royalties. If Spotify pays 70 cents of every dollar on music rights, 60 cents of that goes to the sound recording copyright (which the label splits with the artist based on their contract agreement), while the remaining 10 cents goes to the composition copyright.
Streaming Growth Worldwide. According to IFPI’S Global Music Report 2021, subscription streaming revenues for recorded music increased 18.5% over the previous year. That’s the sixth consecutive year of growth, totaling 443 million paid subscription accounts worldwide. Total streaming (including both paid subscription and advertising-supported) grew 19.9% and reached $13.4 billion, or 62.1% of total global recorded music revenues.
NOTE ABOUT CHANGE IN DISTRIBUTORS
This catalog had been distributed via digital distributor Free Me Digital until July 2021. It is now being distributed by Vydia.
As a result, the investor's initial monthly payments may not include earnings from all digital service providers during the switch in reporting. Full reporting is expected to catch up in 3-4 months with the first expected payment due on October 15, 2021.
As a part of the advance agreement for this sale, the seller will be required to continue to distribute the catalog via Vydia at least until the investor receives the Total Return.
HOW DO PAYMENTS WORK?
Royalty Exchange will collect and distribute the royalties to the investor on a monthly basis. The first payment will be on October 15, 2021. Payments will continue until the investor collects $73,333 (“Total Return”). After the Total Return has been received, the rights to the royalties will revert back to the seller.
