Description
Featured in this auction are monthly sales and streaming royalties from a pop single “Giving You Up” performed by Tyler James Bellinger.
This is a fixed-return asset, meaning the winning bidder will receive monthly payments until a total amount of $32,500 is collected (“Total Return”).
See the "Financials" tab for detailed return scenarios.
FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS:
Nearly all the earnings for this track come from Apple Music, accounting for 99% of returns in the last year. This is noteworthy because Apple Music recently announced it pays artists an average of $.01 per stream, which is nearly double what other platforms pay.
ABOUT THE CATALOG:
This offering features the single “Giving You Up” from rising singer/songwriter Tyler James Bellinger. Officially released in 2019, Tyler performed the single as a contestant on NBC’s Songland.
As an up-and-coming pop artist, Bellinger continues to release new music in 2021. The release of new music draws discovery among first-time listeners and re-engages existing fans.
Key Drivers
Sound Recordings: Sound recording royalties benefit from streaming disproportionately more than composition-based royalties. If Spotify pays 70-cents of every dollar on music rights, 60-cents of that goes to the sound recording copyright (which the label splits with the artist based on their contract agreement), while the remaining 10-cents goes to the composition copyright.
NOTE ABOUT CHANGE IN DISTRIBUTORS
This catalog had been distributed via digital distributor CD Baby until July 2021. It is now being distributed by Vydia.
As a result, the investor's initial monthly payments may not include earnings from all digital service providers during the switch in reporting. Full reporting is expected to catch up in 3-4 months with the first expected payment due on October 15, 2021.
As a part of the advance agreement for this sale, the seller will be required to continue to distribute the catalog via Vydia at least until the investor receives the Total Return.
What is being sold?
The seller’s interest in the sound recording royalties distributed by Vydia for the sound recording listed in the Track List noted above. Please note royalties attributable to exploitations of the recording on the album “Songs for a Younger Me” (UPC # 195079508790) are excluded from the advance recoupment.
