Description

This catalog earns both public performance and mechanical royalties generated by electronic/dance tracks with an established global audience.

FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS:

This asset collects public performance and mechanical royalties distributed by the Danish society BUMA/STEMRA. The “Financials” tab outlines the organization’s unique payment schedule and slightly different terminology for royalty sources.

The catalog’s top-producing source is international public performance royalties with 41% of last year’s returns. In this case, international refers to earnings generated outside of the Netherlands. International mechanical royalties follow with 14% of earnings.

The catalog also features a diverse mix of earnings sources — with no single track accounting for more than 19% of last year’s royalties. This provides built-in diversification.

ABOUT THE CATALOG:

The highest-earning title is “Deja Vu” with 19% of royalties collected over the last 12 months. The 2014 release is a collaboration between DVBBS, Joey Dale, and Delora. To date, the song’s official YouTube video has nearly 29 million views.

Right behind is “Arcadia” with 18.65% of royalties — a collaboration between Dutch DJs Hardwell and Joey Dale featuring English artist Luciana. “Arcadia” fared well among critics and fans alike, named Best Electro/Progressive House Track at the 2015 International Dance Music Awards. The track was released on Hardwell's 2015 debut studio album United We Are. The album was very popular globally, charting in 16 countries — notably peaking at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.

Other tracks included:

  • “Generation” from Belgium DJ diMaro
  • Alvaro and Joey Dale’s “Ready For Action”
  • “Haunted House” from Joey Dale.

Key Drivers

Diversity in Song Income. The single highest-earning song only accounts for 19% of last year’s earnings. This means the catalog’s earnings are not tied to the success of a single track and provides built-in diversification.

Streaming Growth Worldwide. According to IFPI’S Global Music Report 2021, subscription streaming revenues for recorded music increased 18.5% over the previous year. That’s the sixth consecutive year of growth, totaling 443 million paid subscription accounts worldwide.  Total streaming (including both paid subscription and advertising-supported) grew 19.9% and reached $13.4 billion, or 62.1% of total global recorded music revenues.

NOTE ABOUT DISTRIBUTION FREQUENCY

BUMA/STEMRA collects and distributes public performance and mechanical royalties on an irregular distribution schedule. The payment dates are not fixed and therefore vary from year to year -- over the last three years BUMA/STEMRA averaged 15 payments/year. The winner of this auction will receive all future distributions for the included works for the next ten-years.

About the Royalty Distributor

BUMA/STEMRA are two private organizations in the Netherlands, the Buma Association (Dutch: Vereniging Buma) and the Stemra Foundation (Dutch: Stichting Stemra) that operate as one single company that acts as the Dutch collecting society for composers and music publishers. BUMA/STEMRA has over 28,000 composers and collects public performance and mechanical royalties on their behalf.
