Description
Up for auction is a younger collection highlighting new releases from American electronic DJ Goldroom. Known for his remixes of top artists including Janet Jackson, Chvrches, and more, this collection instead highlights this rising DJ’s original works. Released in 2016 and 2017 respectively, “Silhouette” and “Spread Love” drive this collection's growing earnings, contributing to $3,303 in royalties in the last 12 months.
“Silhouette”—from Goldroom’s 2016 album West of The West— is one of his most popular original works, contributing to 54% of this catalog’s earnings in the last 12 months. As the more mature work in the catalog, it’s no surprise that “Silhouette” accounts for the majority of historic income.
The remainder of royalties derives from the new track, “Spread Love,” which was released in mid- 2017. As the winning investor, you will benefit from future earnings from this newer release.
Key Drivers
International. The majority of this catalog’s earnings in the last 12 months come from abroad — at 67% of earnings. International earnings grew an impressive amount in the same period, most likely due to international royalty distribution lagging behind domestic payments for these two, newer works. Though the payments often arrive with limited detail, as the winner of this auction you’ll be entitled to any past performance royalties paid by BMI, regardless of when they were earned.
Satellite Radio. The Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) recently increased the rates Sirius XM must pay rights-holders by more than 40% over the next five years, from 11% of revenue to 15.5% of revenue, effective January 1, 2018. This catalog earned 29% of historic income from Sirius XM. As the winner of this auction, you can benefit from these rate increases as you collect royalties for the next 10 years.
