DESCRIPTION

Up for bid are public performance earnings from a star-studded collection featuring internationally renowned artists Coldplay and Beyoncé. This catalog is highlighted by their massive worldwide hit, “Hymn For The Weekend.”

Released in 2015, “Hymn For The Weekend” is off Coldplay’s seventh studio album A Head Full of Dreams. The album was a global hit with fans, becoming Gold-certified or better in 23 countries, and went on to become the 8th best-selling album of 2015 with 1.9 million copies sold worldwide.

“Hymn For The Weekend” was the second single released from the album. The song was widely popular across the globe, going double-Platinum and charting on seven Billboard charts in the United States, and topped charts in 32 other countries. To date, the video for “Hymn For The Weekend” has a staggering 1.2 billion views on YouTube, while the song has 532 million spins on Spotify.

Not surprisingly, international revenue drives the earnings for this catalog, with 87% of income in the last 12 months. The United Kingdom, France, and Germany are the top-producing international counties, accounting for nearly a third of historic revenue.

Finally, this catalog also includes “Color Spectrum” also off the album A Head Full of Dreams.

KEY DRIVERS

Featured Artists. The star power within this offering is quite an attractive feature. Both Coldplay and Beyoncé are huge names in pop music, with proven track records of hits, and large global fan bases. It's not often you get the opportunity to earn from the back catalog of artists of this caliber.

Formed in 1996 in the United Kingdom, Coldplay has sold 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the world's best-selling music artists. They also have numerous awards to their name, including nine Brit Awards, seven MTV Europe Music Awards and seven Grammy Awards from 29 nominations.

Beyoncé is a pop culture phenomenon with 22 Grammys to her name and touted as one of the best-selling music artists in history. Forbes magazine also ranked Beyoncé as the most powerful female in entertainment — twice!

International Earnings. The majority of this catalog’s earnings come from abroad — at 87% of last year’s income. International royalty distribution can lag behind domestic payments and arrive with limited detail. These international earnings often include income from radio, streaming platforms, and TV/Film. As the winner of this auction, you’ll be entitled to any past performance royalties paid by ASCAP, regardless of when they were earned.
