Description

This pop offering features royalties generated pop acts around the globe, highlighted by a nearly nine-year Dollar Age, consistent earnings, and built-in song diversity.

The public performance revenue this catalog earns stems from two distributors: BMI collects U.S.-based performance royalties and PRS collects from the rest of the world. It’s worth noting that the combined royalties from both distributors have remained consistent over the last two years. International earnings (royalties outside the U.S. and U.K.) are the leading contributor, accounting for 47% of collective income, with 9% year-over-year growth.

Streaming revenue is also rising. Domestic (U.S.) streaming royalties increased by 41% compared to the previous year. While U.K. streaming earnings grew 24% year-over-year (noted as “Online” in the PRS data) with Spotify as the top-contributor.

The catalog’s top-earning song, with 18% of last year’s combined income, is “All Cried Out” performed by British house duo Blonde featuring Alex Newell. Released in 2015, "All Cried Out" took the No. 1 spot on UK dance chart and was Gold-certified. The song is the group’s most popular on Spotify with over 61 million spins to date.

Another leading contributor is Kylie Minogue’s 2010 single “Get Outta My Way” with 16% of combined revenue in the last year. The song was globally popular, hitting No. 1 on the Billboard dance chart and No. 12 on the U.K. charts. The song also saw a 35% year-over-year increase in earnings.

The Pussycat Dolls’ 2008 single “I Hate This Part,” brings in 10% of combined revenue. The track reached No. 1 on Billabord’s dance chart, No. 11 on the Hot 100, and placed in the top 10 in Australia, France, and New Zealand. Royalties for “I Hate This Part” are consistent year-over-year across both distributors, which is rather notable for an 11-year-old release.

Other top-contributing titles in this collection include “Jumon - Mirotic” from South Korean pop duo TVXQ, “Face Drop” from Sean Kingston, "Boyfriend" by Big Time Rush with Snoop Dogg and New Boyz, “Red Hot Kinda Love” performed by Christina Aguilera, and many more.

Key Drivers

Dollar Age. This catalog has a Dollar Age of 8.65 years. The majority of royalties earned in the last 12 months came from songs that have collected royalties for nearly nine years. A high Dollar Age like this suggests stability and longevity and is worth noting as an investor. This can help sustain the asset’s earnings moving forward.

Diversity in Song Income Mix. Revenues are also widely distributed — the single highest-earning song “All Cried Out” only accounts for 18% of last year’s collective revenue from both distributors. This means the catalog’s earnings are not tied to the success of a single track and provides built-in diversification.

Upcoming Tour. The Pussycat Dolls just announced a global tour starting in 2020 with stops at some of the biggest stadiums in the world. Tours give artists the chance to solidify their current fan base and expand their reach to new listeners. As the winning bidder, you'll also have the opportunity to collect live performance revenue if the group performs "I Hate The Part."
