Description
The top-earning track for this collection is the Matt Maher and Paul Moak hit, “All The People Said Amen.” Released to an album of the same title in 2013, “All The People Said Amen” contributes to 45% of earnings in the last 12 months. The album itself received favorable reviews, ranking at No. 5 on Billboard’s Christian Albums chart. This track also shows continued growth, up 2% in earnings over the previous year.
This collection features two additional tracks from the recently released album, Live Love Flesh Blood. Featuring the Irish performing artist Imelda May, this collection holds strong in overseas popularity. In fact, the album ranked at No. 2 on the Irish Albums Chart and No. 1 on the UK’s Americana chart, remaining on the latter for three weeks.
This auction includes strong, international revenue. Growth for this collection is also driven by streaming platforms. Pandora, Amazon Music, and Spotify have all seen individual increases quarter over quarter.
Key Drivers
International. The majority of this catalog’s earnings come from abroad — at 22% of historical earnings. Although international royalty distribution can lag behind domestic payments and arrive with limited detail, as the winner of this auction you’ll be entitled to any past performance royalties paid by ASCAP, regardless of when they were earned.
As this collection earns primarily from countries outside the United States, it’s important to note that international earnings can often be reported to distributors with limited detail. These international earnings often include income from radio, streaming platforms, and TV/Film.
Radio. Radio is the largest source of historic revenue for this catalog, accounting for 64% of historic royalties. Although radio royalties are still being generated, they could eventually level off. Typically, songs that experience significant radio play can often build a foundation for other types of income.
Case in point: streaming. Historically, streaming brought in 6% of royalties. In the last 12 months, however, streaming accounted for 9% of royalties. Streaming royalties are also seeing a 39% increase over the last 12 months. So we're seeing as the radio royalties begin to slow down, other income sources (streaming) begin to increase.
Sirius XM. The Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) recently increased the rates Sirius XM must pay rights-holders by more than 40% over the next five years, from 11% of revenue to 15.5% of revenue, effective January 1, 2018. Historically, this catalog earned 6% from Sirius XM. As the winner of this auction, you can benefit from these rate increases as you collect royalties for the next 10 years.
About the Royalty Distributor
