Up for auction is a selection of chart-topping genre-leaders ranging from contemporary Christian/Gospel to recent Country.
Radio play makes up the majority of earnings, thanks to this collection’s top-earning song: Micah Tyler’s “Never Been A Moment.” Released to the album Different, the track spent two weeks atop the Billboard AC Indicator and claimed a No. 1 seat on the Mediabase Christian Audience chart in early 2017. Micah Tyler is currently on tour for the album and rumored to be releasing a new album fall of 2019. The release of new music draws discovery among first-time listeners and re-engages existing fans.
Although “Never Been A Moment” contributes to 78% of earnings in the last 12 months, the track makes up less than half of historical earnings. That means the winning bidder will benefit from a diverse selection of contributing works with an even spread across over 100 songs.
Another key contributor is the recent country release “Worth It,” which claimed 5% of earnings in the last 12 months. The Danielle Bradbery track debuted in the Top 50 on Billboard’s US Country Airplay and continues to show positive momentum within its first-year of earnings.
Additional contributors include "Giants Fall" and "If We're Honest" from Christian/Gospel artist Francesca Battistelli. Collectively, the tracks contribute to 11% of historical earnings for this collection and remain some of Battistellis most streamed tracks to date.
Radio. Since this collection’s top-earning tracks have only earned royalties for a few years, radio remains the largest source of revenue at 61% of this asset’s income to date. As the winning bidder, you will collect the radio royalties as they continue to be reported. It’s also worth noting that country music’s already massive popularity has only grown over the last decade, particularly on radio. According to a 2018 Nielsen report, country is the top-ranked radio format compared to the nation’s radio audience as a whole, and the second-ranked music format when limited to the top markets only.
It’s important to take into consideration that these radio royalties will begin to taper off. However, songs that experience significant radio play can often build a foundation of streaming and other types of income as the radio royalties slow down. For this collection of songs, streaming (Digital Media) accounts for 14% of the catalog's royalties thus far.
Please note, the spike in earnings in Q3 2018 is attributable to a radio payment made for Micah Tyler’s hit "Never Been a Moment." The song received significant airplay on Christian radio stations, thus generating considerable radio royalties. Although this is not expected to be repeated, as the winner of this auction you are entitled to any future payments (for radio etc.) like this should they occur again.
Streaming/CCS. This collection earns from “Digital Media,” made up predominantly of Apple Music, Pandora and CCS payments. CCS is the only Christian company to partner with SESAC to offer one-stop performance licenses that allow religious organizations to legally play, perform and stream over 17 million Christian and secular songs of all genres. Online streaming drives 11% of earnings for this collection in the last 12 months and this income source has shown a 14% increase compared to the prior 12 months. Significant radio royalties create an opportunity for streaming sources to grow.
