This catalog is anchored by two big singles from Christian pop singer Micah Tyler, along with other hits from popular faith-based artists.
As the winning bidder, you’ll collect public performance royalties on these works for the lifetime of the copyright.
Currently, radio is the largest income source for this catalog, with 59% of last year’s returns and 78% of historical royalties.
You’ll notice a spike in royalties in Q1-2020, this is a result of SESAC making catch-up payments (totaling approximately $28,000) for two songs in the catalog. These payments are a result of adjusted royalties for those songs — primarily for radio and streaming sources — over prior performance periods dating to the songs’ releases. It’s unlikely such adjustments will occur again, but if they do you are entitled to any future one-time catch-up payments as the winner of this auction.
Streaming, however, remains stable (despite the adjustment payment noted above) for this nearly 4-year-old catalog as begins its format transition. Streaming generated 21% of the last 12 months’ earnings, compared to only 11% of “all-time” royalties to date.
The catalog’s earnings are evenly distributed between two songs — “Even Then” and “Different” — generating 54% and 48%, respectively.
ABOUT THE CATALOG:
This catalog is anchored by two hits from Micah Tyler: “Even Then” and “Different.” Both tracks were released on the 2016 Different — EP and then later on a full studio album, also titled Different, in 2017. The album hit No. 23 on Billboard’s Top Chrisitan Album chart and the Heatseekers chart at No. 8.
The top song — “Even Then” — was officially released as the third single on the full album in June 2018. The song captured the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Christian Adult Contemporary chart and No. 6 on the Hot Christian Songs chart (where it spent 34 weeks). The Gold-certified “Different” peaked at No. 6 on Billboard’s Christian Adult Contemporary chart.
Rounding out the catalog are:
- “A Million Lights” — Michael W. Smith (2018)
- Austin French’s “Freedom Hymn” (2017)
- “Better Word” from Leeland Mooring (2019)
Radio. Radio is the largest source of revenue for the catalog accounting for 59% of last year’s royalties. Although radio royalties are still being generated, they could eventually level off. Typically, songs that experience significant radio play can often build a foundation for other types of income, such as streaming. You'll notice streaming generated 21% of the last 12 months’ earnings, compared to only 11% of royalties to date.
