Description

This catalog boasts consistent earnings and massively popular artists. This collection contains songs from Meek Mill, Bobby Shmurda, Prince, 50 Cent, Kid Ink, Chris Brown, French Montana, The Game, Diddy, Redman, Drake and many more.

With over 200 tracks, this catalog grew 9% over the previous year. This growth is attributed to streaming — with a 35% increase in streaming income during the same time period.

The foundation of this offering is the song “Hot Boy” (also known as “Hot N***a”) from Bobby Shmurda, totaling 65% of last year’s earnings. Released in 2014, the certified-Platinum song has 178 million Spotify spins, and the video has over 440 million YouTube views. The song also hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and No. 6 on Hot 100. What’s more, the song is seeing a 20% increase over last year’s earnings

This catalog also features 29 tracks from hip-hop artist Meek Mill. Collectively, these songs account for 25% of historic earnings and include “I’ma Boss” featuring Rick Ross, “Monster,” and “Burn.” Other notable titles include “Holla At Me” from Chris Brown, “U Know” performed by legendary musician Prince, Kid Ink’s “Lost In The Sauce,” “Trap House” from French Montana, and “Standing On Ferraris” from The Game featuring Diddy.

Key Drivers

Hip-Hop & Streaming. Hip-hop overtook rock in 2017 as the most popular genre of music in the U.S., accounting for 24.5% of all music consumption. Driving this increase is streaming. According to BuzzAngle’s 2017 Music Report: Urban songs (Hip-Hop/Rap and R&B) were the most-streamed songs in 2017, accounting for 32% of all streams.

What's exciting is that this catalog is a perfect example of these two trends: hip-hop and streaming's growth worldwide. Streaming accounts for 48% of this catalog’s earnings over the last 12 months and these earnings are up over 35% in the same period.

Featured Artists. Not surprisingly, the star power within this catalog is an attractive feature. From Bobby Shmurda, to Prince, to 50 Cent, to Kid Ink, to Diddy — these are multi-Platinum-selling artists with a proven track record of hits.

Perhaps most interesting is that the catalog contains 29 tracks from Meek Mill. The hip-hop star was recently released from prison and is at the center of a national debate over prison reform. Meek Mill is one of the most sought-after artists in the music industry and you can benefit from his back catalog being part of this collection.

What Is Being Sold?

10 years of payments derived from 100% of the seller's interest in the songwriter's share of public performance royalties attributable to select musical works in the seller's catalog of songs. See the “Financials” tab for a full track list.

How Does This Asset Make Money?

Every time “Hot Boy” or any song in this catalog, is played on Spotify, Pandora, YouTube, or any other type of public performance, you earn royalties.

ASCAP makes payments quarterly and the first distribution you will receive is set for July 2018. Royalty Exchange will collect the payments from ASCAP and disburse to you in August 2018.

Unless the buyer opts out of the opportunity, this listing will automatically be relisted as a "Buy It Now" sale at a premium over the closing price. The relisted asset will remain live until it is purchased, or until its first royalty distribution. This gives the winning bidder the chance to earn an immediate return on the asset while awaiting the first royalty payment.
