Description

Earnings for this eclectic catalog come from up-and-coming hip-hop, J-Pop and K-Pop, and electronic dance music. As the winning bidder, you’ll collect all future royalties for this varied collection for the lifetime of the copyrights.

FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS:

International income accounts for 56% of the last 12 months’ earnings. You’ll notice these foreign earnings appear to be increasing, this is a result of both new releases and a lag in reporting the foreign royalties. This international revenue stems from royalties earned outside the United States and combines income from streaming, radio, TV/Film, and other sources.

Domestic streaming accounts for nearly all the remaining royalties with 40% of last year’s returns. While international income doesn’t break out streaming sources vs radio, etc… it’s generally fair to assume international income is split along similar lines as domestic income.

ABOUT THE CATALOG:

Accounting for a third of last year’s earnings is the single “Stoves on 14th” from hip-hop artist Trippie Redd featuring Black Jezuss. The track was released on Redd’s 2017 album A Love Letter to You, which went Gold and hit No. 64 on the mainstream Billboard 200.

Right behind is “Under My Skin” from South Korean singer Taemin with 26% of last year’s return. The title was released on Taemin’s Japanese language self-titled album in 2018. The album hit No. 2 on Billboard’s Japan Hot Albums chart.

Other top-producing titles include:

  • “Too Late” from South Korean Korean boy band Super Junior

  • South Korean rap group N.Flying’s “Teu Geo Un Gam Ja” (“Hot Potato” in English)

  • And EDM single “Pray For Me” performed by Said The Sky featuring Origami

Key Drivers

Streaming Growth in 2019.  According to the 2020 IFPI Global Music Report, streaming revenues increased 23% to $11.4 billion, accounting for 56% of all recorded music revenue worldwide.  This collection offers investors the unique opportunity to invest in the overarching positive trend and impact of streaming services.

K-Pop. 2018 was the year of K-pop’s undeniable rise to a globally recognized industry, according to Forbes. Korean pop acts first began to go viral over a decade ago with the emergence of YouTube. As a result, the Korean music industry has grown in recognition and popularity in both Asia and around the globe. K-Pop now has an audience in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and South America, and other Asian markets, including Japan.

According to IFPI 2019 Music Listening Report, K-Pop is now ranked as the seventh most- popular genre globally. This is rather notable as the 2018 report published in October 2018 did not include K-pop in their top genre list, suggesting that the K-Pop revolution may have only just begun. You could benefit from the genre’s potential rising popularity with this catalog.

International Earnings. The majority of this catalog’s earnings come from abroad — at 56% of last year’s earnings. Although international royalty distribution can lag behind domestic payments and arrive with limited detail, as the winner of this auction you’ll be entitled to any past performance royalties paid by BMI, regardless of when they were earned.
