Description

Bid now on hip-hop royalties from a star-studded catalog of genre leaders, Fat Joe, DJ Khaled, Jay-Z, and more. This Life of Rights offering is highlighted by the official remix of the 2016 release “All The Way Up.” The remix itself features new verses by Fat Joe and Remy Ma, and includes an additional verse from hip-hop legend, Jay-Z.

Released in 2016, “All The Way Up Remix” is a follow-up hit to the chart-topping, Grammy-nominated track “All The Way Up.” The success of the original hit sparked four remixes – the first, official remix is featured in this collection and drives nearly 50% of earnings in the last 12 months. Due to its success overseas, “All The Way Up Remix” contributes a majority of all international royalties collected by this catalog. In fact, 65% of international income derived in the last year came from the track “All The Way Up Remix.”

This catalog also includes two newer releases – “Dat Side” and “Trick Me.” Featured on CyHi The Prince’s debut album No Dope on Sundays, the works feature artists Kanye West and 2 Chainz, respectively. Earnings from “Dat Side” and “Trick Me” make up over a third of the revenue in the last 12 months.

Finally, making up nearly 20% of revenue historically is the 2016 release “Holy Key” featuring – DJ Khaled, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar, and Betty Wright. The track is featured on DJ Khaled’s Grammy-nominated, Platinum album Major Key.

Key Drivers

Hip-Hop/Streaming. This catalog is a perfect example of two trends: hip-hop and streaming's growth worldwide. According to BuzzAngle's 2018 Year End Report, hip-hop is the most popular genre of music in the U.S. The driver for the increase is streaming. Hip-hop/rap tracks accounted for more than a quarter of all on-demand plays on music streaming services in the US in 2018. Streaming accounts for 43% of this catalog’s earnings over the last 12 months.

Featured Artists. Not surprisingly, the star power within this catalog is an attractive feature. From Fat Joe to Jay-Z to Kanye West and more — these are multi-Platinum-selling artists with a proven track record of hits, loyal fan bases, and mainstream appeal. As a living hip-hop legend, Jay-Z has 21 Grammys to his name and is touted as one of the best-selling musicians of all time, with more than 100 million records sold worldwide.

International. The large portion of this catalog’s earnings come from abroad — at 38% of historical earnings. As the winner of this auction, you’ll be entitled to any past performance royalties paid by BMI, regardless of when they were earned. As this collection earns primarily from countries outside the United States, it’s important to note that international earnings can often be reported to distributors with limited detail. These international earnings often include income from radio, streaming platforms, and TV/Film.
