Description
Invest in growing royalties from Kid Ink fan favorites. Highlighted by his early works, these 20 songs include Kid Ink's core records. In 2016, royalties for this asset increased in each of the last three distributions. In the last 12 months, these songs earned $10,300.
This auction includes the songs that propelled Kid Ink into stardom. Released five years ago, these are still among his most popular and well-known songs. In 2012, “I Just Want It All” brought him into the spotlight and quickly became an internet hit. Just last year the lyrics to this song were used on Coke bottles in Coca Cola's “Share a Coke and a Song” campaign.
“Time of Your Life” and “Hell & Back” are breakthrough hit singles from his debut studio album, Up and Away. “Time of Your Life” is the first single from the album and still generates income, earning $1,685 in the last 12 months. The certified Gold single “Hell & Back” is the catalog's top earner, at 24% of the total. Royalty payments for “Hell & Back” have grown every year since 2014, with the last 12 months increasing 12% over the previous.
From Kid Ink's second album, Almost Home, is the hit single “Money and the Power.” The YouTube video boasts over 28 million views to date, and daily views have steadily hovered around 15,000 since July 2016. “Money and the Power” was a theme song for World Wrestling Entertainment's signature pay-per-view event, Wrestlemania 31, during which Kid Ink performed with Skylar Grey and Travis Barker. WWE reported that the show was the highest grossing WWE event ever, drawing a revenue of $12.6 million.
The rest of the catalog consists of another eight Kid Ink songs, as well as Wiz Khalifa's “Hope” from the Grammy nominated album Blacc Hollywood. Other notable artists include Lil Wayne, Machine Gun Kelly, Ty Dolla $ign, Migos, Tyga, NeYo, Chris Brown, Sean Kingston, Wiz Khalifa, and DJ Felli Fell.
Key Drivers
1) These are the hit records from when Kid Ink was just breaking as an artist. They are the heart of his core collection and the songs that made fans fall in love with him. Kid Ink actively tours, and these classic records still make up the majority of his live setlist to this day.
2) Streaming is the largest revenue stream for this catalog. These songs have a massive digital presence, with millions of YouTube views and songs in Kid Ink's top five most popular songs on Spotify. If you win this auction, you will benefit from the popularity of these songs on sources like YouTube, Spotify, and more.
3) The seller and Kid Ink himself were the only co-writers on many of these songs. On those tracks, the seller has 50% of the songwriter’s share. This is unique since often times a songwriter's share is a much smaller piece due to a large number of people involved with writing and producing a song.
What is being sold?
100% of the seller's interest in the songwriter's share of public performance royalties from the seller's catalog of musical works administered by ASCAP. See the “Financials” tab for a full track list.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Possession of the songwriter’s portion of this asset must be taken via a trust, which is required due to ASCAP’s assignment policy. Please see the Post-Auction Process tab for further information.
How does this asset make money?
Every time “Hell & Back,” or any song in this catalog, is played on the radio, streamed on Pandora, Spotify, Apple Music, or any other type of public performance you will earn royalties. ASCAP makes payments quarterly, and the first distribution you will receive is July 2017.
