Up for auction is 100% of the songwriter's share of public performance royalties from hip-hop music by Cam'ron, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, and more. Three of the top earning songs in the catalog, “Killa Cam,” “Dipset Anthem,” & “Tha Mobb” were released over a decade ago and have earned every year since they came out. Not only that, but royalties for all three songs have increased each year since 2014. Check out the financials tab for more details.
Another contributor to last year's growth is a new addition to the catalog: “Huang's World” by Cam'ron. “Huang's World” is the theme song for the food travel show of the same name, starring Eddie Huang. Huang and Cam'ron became friends when filming a project in 2015. The following year Huang enlisted Cam'ron to create the new theme song for the second season of his show. Season two of “Huang's World” premiered last year, meaning the song just started to collect royalties in 2016. Should you win this auction, every time an episode with the song, “Huang's World” airs on TV or is streamed, you will earn money.
1) Cam'ron and Juelz Santana, artists featured in this catalog, are both actively releasing new music. New releases can help boost an artist's back catalog because the release of new music draws discovery among new fans who are listening to these artists for the first time.
2) Cam'ron's “Huang's World” theme was specifically created for season two of the show. Theme music is the song played at the outset of any given series. This is different than typical production music, as a theme song is played consistently and more often. Every time an episode of season two airs, you will earn royalties. If this theme is used is another season of Huang's world, additional royalties will be earned.
