Description

Up for auction is a catalog of songs by some of the biggest West Coast rap and hip-hop artists, including Eazy-E, Snoop Dogg, and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony.

The seller is a hip-hop producer best known for working with Eazy-E, who was a solo rap artist and a member of the hip-hop group N.W.A. in the late 80s and early 90s. Eazy-E's life story was recently chronicled in the 2015 biopic Straight Outta Compton, bringing his music and career back into the spotlight.

In the last 12 months, this catalog has earned $3,597.09 in royalties. If you win this auction, every time Eazy-E's “Real Muthaphukkin G's”, or any other song in this catalog is played, you will make money. ASCAP will distribute the royalties on a quarterly basis. The winner of the auction will receive the first royalty check in September 2016.

What is being sold?

100% of the seller's songwriting and publishing interest in the public performance royalties attributable to the seller's catalog of musical works, currently administered by ASCAP.

How does this asset make money?

Every time “Real Muthaphukkin G's”, or any other song in this catalog, is played on iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, or any other type of public performance, you earn royalties. ASCAP makes payments quarterly and the next ASCAP payment is scheduled for September 2016.

What is interesting about this asset?

This hip-hop producer is best-known for producing tracks on Eazy-E's EP It's On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa. He has also produced extensively for rapper Paperboy and other well-known artists such as Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, MC Ren, and Snoop Dogg.

Some of the best-known tracks he has produced include "Ditty" by Paperboy, "Real Muthaphuckkin G's" by Eazy-E, and "Down Foe My Thang" by Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, all of which are included in this catalog.

“Real MuthaphuckkinG's” by Eazy-E is a highlight of this catalog and makes up 49% of the catalog's income since 2010. In 1993 this song reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart and peaked at number 42 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Grammy-nominated “Ditty” by Paperboy makes up the second largest portion of the catalog. "Ditty" peaked at number 10 in 1993 and was awarded a platinum certification from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), meaning that 1,000,000 units were sold.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Possession of the songwriter’s portion of this asset must be taken via a trust, which is required due to ASCAP’s assignment policy. Please see the Post-Auction Process tab for further information.
