Description

Here’s a chance to earn from some of the biggest names in hip-hop. This collection features songs from Wiz Khalifa, Cardi B, Chris Brown, Bryson Tiller, and many others.

Streaming is this collection’s top-producing income source accounting for 67% of revenue in the last 12 months and showing 50% growth over the previous year. The driver behind this growth is the new releases (noted below) that experienced significant streaming activity. Apple Music is the top-producing streaming platform, with growing earnings over the last year and contributing over half of the catalog’s historical income.

Acting as the foundation of this offering, with 25% of last year’s income, is Wiz Khalifa’s 2017 release “Something New” featuring Ty Dolla $ign. Over 75% of last year’s earnings from “Something New” came from domestic streaming and radio airplay.

Also included is “Bickenhead” from Cardi B’s Grammy-winning album — Invasion of Privacy. The track makes up 11% of earnings for this collection in the last 12 months. Impressively, all of the tracks featured on the album, including “Bickenhead,” were certified Gold or Platinum by the RIAA, making her the first-ever female artist to accomplish such a feat.

Other titles featured in this collection are 2017’s “To My Bed” from Chris Brown, “Open Interlude” from Bryson Tiller’s 2015 debut studio album, and an older release “Let’s Talk” by Omarion featuring Rick Ross from 2012.

Key Drivers

Streaming & Hip-Hop. This catalog is a perfect example of two trends: hip-hop and streaming's growth worldwide. According to BuzzAngle's 2018 Year-End Report, hip-hop is the most popular genre of music in the U.S. The driver for the increase is streaming. Hip-hop/rap tracks accounted for more than a quarter of all on-demand plays on music streaming services in the U.S. in 2018. Streaming accounts for 67% of this catalog’s earnings over the last 12 months and these earnings are growing significantly in the same period.

Cardi B. To say Cardi B is an enormously popular artist is an understatement. She's a trailblazer for female hip-hop artists with a global following. In a short time, Cardi B has earned three No.1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and seven top 10 hits.

At one point in 2018, Cardi B had five Top 10 singles on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop at the same time, making her the first woman to do so, beating Beyoncé’s previous record of four. Cardi’s album Invasion Of Privacy (which features “Bickenhead”) was the first debut album by a female rapper to receive an Album of the Year Grammy in nearly 20 years. Invasion Of Privacy also claimed the No. 1 slot on both Rolling Stone and Time’s "Best Albums of 2018."

She has won a Grammy for Best Rap Album, three American Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, nine BET Hip Hop Awards, and a Billboard Music Award.
