Description

Earn royalties from one of the most well-known names in hip-hop! This offering features non-featured artist performance royalties from Dr. Dre’s “Let’s Get High,” featuring Hittman, Kurupt and Ms. Roq.

“Let’s Get High ” is from Dr. Dre's six-time Platinum-selling album 2001. Released in 1999, the album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on Billboard's Top R&B Hip-Hop Albums. Although not officially released as a single, "Let’s Get High" received some radio airplay which resulted in it charting at No. 72 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. To date, the title has over 25 million Spotify spins.

The seller performed background vocals on the recording and receives non-featured performer digital performance royalties. AFM & SAG-AFTRA Intellectual Property Rights Distribution Fund, a non-profit organization that distributes royalties to session musicians and background vocalists, pays these royalties annually. The vast majority of this asset’s royalties come from digital streaming on platforms like Spotify, Pandora, Google Play, and Sirius XM Radio.

Please note, to date, the seller has only collected one annual payment for “Let’s Get High.” The seller’s non-featured performer’s interest had been previously unclaimed, but it is now linked to the seller for future payments. The winning bidder will be entitled to all future payments made by AFM & SAG-AFTRA for the seller’s interest.

Key Drivers

Hip-Hop/Streaming. This offering is a perfect example of two trends: hip-hop and streaming's growth worldwide. According to BuzzAngle's 2018 Year End Report, hip-hop is the most popular genre of music in the U.S. The driver for the increase is streaming. Hip-hop/rap tracks accounted for more than a quarter of all on-demand plays on music streaming services in the US in 2018. It’s worth noting that the vast majority of these AFM & SAG-AFTRA royalties come from digital streaming (like Spotify).

WHAT IS BEING SOLD?

100% of seller's interest in the non-featured performer's share of royalties attributable to the sound recording "Let’s Get High” by Dr. Dre.
