This auction is for 50% of all income generated by a collection of iconic celebrity photographs for the life of the copyright. Every time a limited-edition print is sold or the seller licenses one of these photos for use in a publication or on a product, you'll get paid.
This collection includes some of the most iconic images of heritage celebrities such as Clint Eastwood, Grace Kelly, John F. Kennedy, Marlon Brando, and more. In the last year, this collection has earned $15,236.55 across print sales and licensing revenue. (That's half of the total earnings of $30,473.09)
Plus, the seller has signed a licensing deal with the estates of Muhammad Ali and Marilyn Monroe that has the potential to greatly increase the licensing revenue of this photo collection. (There are photos of both of these celebrities in this collection.)
As an additional bonus, this auction includes 10 previously unreleased celebrity photos. So you'll have the untapped upside potential of these photos when you win this auction.
Bid now for the chance to earn money every time a fan or collector buys one of these historic images and every time a company or publisher uses a photo.
What Is Being Sold?
In this auction, you're bidding to own 50% of all royalty income generated from a collection of iconic celebrity photos. You'll be entitled to 50% of the copyright on these images as well. These photos include images of Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Johnny Cash, and more. See the Media tab for a list of photos included.
How Does This Asset Make Money?
This asset makes money in two main ways. The first income stream is tied to the sale of photo prints to collectors, decorators, and fans. These photos are available for purchase on online fine art marketplaces and in brick-and-mortar galleries. The second income stream, which is gaining momentum, is licensing revenue from stock photo sites and publications. These assets earn royalties every time a publisher wants to use them in a story or book or any other product.
What's Interesting About This Asset?
If you win this auction, you'll own a royalty stream tied to some of the most iconic celebrity images of the 20th century. Every time a fan buys the photo of Clint Eastwood, you'll get paid. If a publication writes an article about John F. Kennedy and they decide to use the photo in this collection you'll earn royalties.
Here's something else very interesting about this asset, the seller has only just begun to market these photos. The seller believes that these photos will earn substantially more income over time, which is why they're only selling 50% of the royalties. Even with bare-bones marketing over the last 12 months, these photos have earned more than $15,000 in revenue. The seller is now aggressively working to expand the market for these photos by selling them on fine art websites and partnering with major retailers to put prints in front of millions of shoppers.
Plus, the winner of this auction won't just be entitled to 50% of the royalties generated by these photos, they'll also own 50% of the copyright. However, the seller will retain exclusive licensing authority for the photos. This is the opportunity to earn royalties on the work of a skilled operator who has skin in the game.
Buy back option
The seller believes that these photos will generate considerably more income in the future because it plans to take new efforts to promote and market them. Thus, the seller has the option to repurchase the royalty share and copyright interest from the winning bidder, for two years after the sale, for twice the final auction price. That means, if the seller exercises this option, you will more than double your money by 2018. (Because you'll be paid royalties along the way.)
What Rights Are Included?
The right to collect 50% of the income the seller generates with these 20 photos.
50% of the copyright. Although the seller retains exclusive licensing authority for them except in the case of seller’s insolvency. This means that as long as the seller is an operating business, only they can license and utilize these photos. But if something were to happen to the seller, the buyer could step up and work these photos to generate income.
About the Royalty Distributors
