Description

Starring in this listing is one of the most recognizable and iconic Tupac Shakur tracks to date — “Hail Mary” — released on his final posthumous album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory. Since its 1997 release, “Hail Mary” has been re-released multiple times, performed live by a holographic version of Tupac at Coachella in 2012 and included on Tupac’s Greatest Hits album in 1998. Other songs included from the same album are “Just Like Daddy,” “One Day At a Time (produced by Eminem)” and others.

“Hail Mary” also appeared in the 2017 Tupac biopic All Eyez On Me. As the winning investor, you will earn anytime the film airs on TV or streaming platforms. View the scene which features “Hail Mary” on the ‘Media’ tab now. The tracks from this piece of the collection are distributed by ASCAP and have contributed to 32% of earnings in the last 12 months.

Sweetening the value of this listing is a newer royalty stream from Drake single “KMT” and PnB Rock’s “Issues”. Drake’s “KMT” was included in one of Billboard’s 50 Best Albums of 2017, More Life and “Issues” featuring hip-hop influencer Russ is included on PnB Rock’s debut studio album Catch These Vibes. These two tracks distributed by BMI have contributed to 68% of earnings in the last 12 months.

"KMT (featuring UK rap star, Giggs) proved impressive international influence shortly after its release. It entered the charts at No. 25 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 and spent an additional two weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. “KMT” also became Drake's second-highest charting song from More Life on the UK Singles Chart. The track later certified Gold in the UK. It is worth noting that less than a month ago, Drake appeared for a week residency at Europe’s top-grossing concert venue, London’s famed O2 arena. He regularly incorporates the track "KMT" into his live performances and as the winning investor, you will earn royalties earned on those live performances and increased plays surrounding a Drake visit to the UK.

Key Drivers

Lasting Relevance and Massive Popularity. The star power within this catalog is a compelling feature. Both Tupac and Drake are multi-Platinum-selling artists with a proven track record of hits, loyal fan bases, and mainstream appeal. Named one of the Greatest Rappers of All Time, Tupac has received six Grammy nominations including a nomination for Best Rap Album for All Eyez On Me. In June 2018, the RIAA announced that Drake is the top-certified singles artist ever with 142 million certified units.

Hip-Hop/Streaming. This catalog is a perfect example of two trends: hip-hop and streaming's growth worldwide. According to BuzzAngle's 2018 Year End Report, hip-hop is the most popular genre of music in the U.S. The driver for the increase is streaming. Hip-hop/rap tracks accounted for more than a quarter of all on-demand plays on music streaming services in the US in 2018. Streaming accounts for 62% of this catalog’s earnings over the last 12 months.

International. A large portion of this catalog’s earnings come from abroad — at 41% of historical earnings. These earnings are driven by "KMT" featuring a UK hip-hop star, Giggs

Although international royalty distribution can lag behind domestic payments and arrive with limited detail, as the winner of this auction you’ll be entitled to any past performance royalties paid by ASCAP and BMI, regardless of when they were earned. These international earnings often include income from radio, streaming platforms, and TV/Film.

Note about Investment Term

Please note this offering is a resale of two 10-year investment term catalogs -- one ASCAP and one BMI -- previously purchased on the site.

The ASCAP catalog has collected two distributions since its purchase. This means the investment term for the ASCAP included works is less than 10-years. The investment term now runs until March 3, 2029. The winning bidder will collect all royalties paid by ASCAP for the included songs until that date.

The BMI catalog has not collected any distributions since its original purchase. The investment term for the BMI included works runs until April 5, 2029.
