Description

Up for bid here, is a catalog of production music that's generated $8,382 over the last four quarters. This auction offers 25% of the songwriter's share of public performance royalties for music used in the franchises The Real Housewives, Love & Hip-Hop and many other recognizable TV series and films.

Earnings have shown an increase over the last three consecutive quarters. In fact, the royalties for Q2 2017 are more than the three preceding quarters' earnings combined! The increase is attributable to three shows: syndication airings of NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Bravo's Married To Medicine and The Real Housewives of Potomac.

Bravo's The Real Housewives reality franchise anchors this catalog. It features music in the franchise's most popular show, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, which also is the catalog's highest earning source at 32%. According Bravo Media's end of 2016 press release, the network finished the year with the largest on-air and digital growth among the Top 10 ad-supported cable networks. The recent growth of the network means each time an episode of any of the The Real Housewives series with music from this catalog airs on TV or streamed from the Bravo website, you will receive a royalty.

Production music is an important part of the TV industry. This type of music is used as background or transition music you hear during TV shows, commercials, or during radio programming. Currently, the demand for music in TV shows, films, commercials etc. is at an all-time high. Over the last six years, global TV production activity has doubled.

Key Drivers

This auction is for 25% of the songwriter's share of public performance royalties of the catalog, the songwriter is retaining a 75% share. This means that they still hold a vested interest in the catalog and will continue to have their publisher look for placements. You and the songwriter will earn royalties whenever these songs get placed in TV shows or movies.

What's also noteworthy, is that the songwriter has confirmed with their publisher that music from the catalog has new placements, such as The Real Housewives of Potomac and HBO's documentary series VICE. The Real Housewives of Potomac just earned its first payment in Q2 2017, and on aired its final reunion episode on July 16, 2017. If music from this catalog is used in an episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac that has recently aired, you will collect these earnings next quarter.

Some of the songs in the catalog are worked by well-known publishing companies BMG and 5 Alarm. BMG recently placed a song from the catalog in the feature film “Perfect Match” while 5 Alarm placed a track in “Monster Trucks.” Should you win this auction, you will also benefit from these companies' efforts to find new placements for the catalog's works.
