Description
This is an opportunity to earn royalties for newly released tracks from various hip-hop artists. Featured in the catalog are three songs that were released in early to mid-2017. As the winning bidder, you will collect all future royalties earned for these songs’ performances, including radio play.
“Tone It Down”— from Gucci Mane featuring Chris Brown —is the highest-earning track in the collection, with 50% of royalties to date. Released in June 2017, the song was the second single from Gucci Mane's album Mr. Davis. “Tone It Down” peaked at No. 24 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and has over 64 million spins on Spotify.
Also included in this collection is “F With You” from Kid Ink featuring Ty Dolla $ign. The title brings in 26% of the catalog’s royalties and has amassed nearly 44 million plays on Spotify. Finally, there’s “Questions” from Chris Brown. The song is off Chris Brown’s eighth studio album Heartbreak on a Full Moon. “Questions” was released in August 2017, hit No. 32 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and charted in 16 other countries.
Key Drivers
Radio Play. Since these songs have only earned royalties for two quarters, it's no surprise that radio is the largest source of revenue. Radio earnings account for 57% of this asset’s earnings. As the winning bidder, you will collect the radio royalties as they continue to be reported.
It’s important to take into consideration that these radio royalties will begin to fall. However, songs that experience significant radio play can often build a foundation of streaming and other types of income as the radio royalties slow down. For this collection of songs, streaming accounts for 36% of the catalog's royalties thus far.
Tours and New Music. Gucci Mane and Chris Brown are both actively touring throughout the summer with dates through August 2018. Kid Ink just dropped a new single in March. Tours and new releases give artists the chance to solidify their current fan base and expand their reach to new listeners.
