Featured in this auction are two country titles from Justin Moore, including the No. 1 hit song “Small Town USA.” This catalog is also seeing growth over the last year — with an increase in radio and streaming income of 37% and 64%, respectively.
Released in 2009, “Small Town USA” was the second single off the Gold-certified debut album Justin Moore (and of Moore's career). The song became his No. 1 hit, reaching the top of the Billboard US Hot Country Songs chart. "Small Town USA" also has demonstrated crossover appeal, peaking at No. 44 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Also included in this offering is the title “I Could Kick Your Ass,” off the same album. That album reached No 3 on Billboard's Top Country Albums and enjoyed mainstream success at No. 10 on Billboard 200 in 2010.
“Small Town USA” brings in the majority of this catalog’s income with 73% of earnings in the last year. Impressively, both titles are still seeing growth in their royalties (nearly 10 years after their original release).
Finally, as a unique and exciting memento, the publisher would like to include an official Gold RIAA-certified award plaque for the winner of this auction!
Country Music & Radio. Country music is an American sensation and it has become incredibly popular over the last decade — especially on the radio. According to a Nielsen report, country music is No. 1 in total radio listeners for the eighth consecutive year as a genre. The report states that 13.6% of all radio listening in the U.S. was on a country-formatted station.
“Small Town USA” and “I Could Kick Your Ass” have enjoyed strong radio play since their releases and still continue to produce consistent earnings. This again speaks to country music's popularity and dominance on the radio. Radio royalties don't tend to level off as quickly with a popular country song, compared to other genres. As the winning bidder, you'll collect the incoming radio royalties going forward.
Songs that receive considerable radio play often build a foundation of streaming and other types of income as the radio royalties wind down. Historically, streaming has made up only 28% of this catalog’s royalties. However, in the last year streaming has grown to account for 45% of the earnings — which is a 64% increase over the previous year.
A NOTE ABOUT INVESTMENT TERM
The investment term is “at least 22 years” because U.S. copyright law gives artists and songwriters the right to terminate a copyright assignment after 35 years. “Small Town USA” was written in 2005. Because this royalty stream is for the publisher's share of public performance royalties, the songwriter(s) will have the right to terminate the copyright assignment and collect all publishing income beginning in 2040. Click here to learn more about copyright termination.
WHAT IS BEING SOLD?
100% of the seller's interest in the domestic (U.S. only) publisher's share of public performance royalties attributable to select musical works in the seller's catalog. See the “Overview” box above for a full track list.
HOW DOES THIS ASSET MAKE MONEY?
Every time "I Could Kick Your Ass" or "Small Town USA" is played on the radio, Pandora, Sirius XM, or any other type of public performance, you earn royalties.
Unless the buyer opts out of the opportunity, this listing will automatically be relisted as a "Buy It Now" sale at a premium over the closing price. The relisted asset will remain live until it is purchased, or until its first royalty distribution. This gives the winning bidder the chance to earn an immediate return on the asset while awaiting the first royalty payment.
About the Royalty Distributor

The next payment from ASCAP is in June 2018, to be paid to the winning bidder by Royalty Exchange in July 2018
