Invest in publishing royalties generated by catalog containing pop, country, rock and Christian music. This asset earned $24,187 in the last 12 months.
As the winner of this auction, you will collect the publisher's share of sync, mechanical, and public performance royalties. The largest income source for this catalog historically is mechanical royalties — publishing royalties earned when music is either physically sold (CDs), downloaded (iTunes), or streamed online (Spotify). These mechanical royalties make up 60% of earnings for this catalog in the last year.
Aside from the varied income mix, this catalog also features diverse genres. Historically, the highest-earning title is “Wrecking Ball (Press On)” from the Christian rock band Building 429. Released in 2014, the single was off Building 429’s Grammy-nominated album We Won’t be Shaken. This catalog includes eight additional tracks from Building 429.
Also featured in this offering are three tracks from EDM rock band Starset. In the last 12 months, Starset's “Carnivore” was the catalog's highest-earning song with 21% of royalties. Representing country music in this collection is the 2017 release “Lonely Call” from RaeLynn. The song charted at No. 50 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs.
Not to be forgotten are “You Don’t Know My Heart” from pop singer Rachel Platten, “Be Your Everything” from Boston rock band Boys Like Girls, along with titles from Christian rock group Anthem Lights and pop country duo Megan and Liz.
Income Mix. This auction is for three different royalty streams for the catalog. This means the winner of this auction can receive income in multiple ways:
Mechanical: Royalties paid to songwriters and publishers when music is sold (think CD or vinyl) but also when music is streamed (streaming mechanicals).
Performance: Royalties when music is performed publicly. Music played over the radio, in a restaurant or bar, or over a service like Spotify or Pandora is considered a public performance.
Synchronization: Royalties paid to songwriters and publishers for use of a song as background music for a movie, TV show, or commercial.
Mechanical Rates. The U.S. Copyright Royalty Board recently raised the rates digital music services must pay for mechanical royalties… by nearly 44% over the next five years. Historically, this catalog earns primarily from royalties from mechanical royalties — 63% in the last 12 months. As the winner of this auction, you will benefit from the mechanical rate increase as you collect mechanical royalties.
