Description

This collection of three songs released in 2008 continue to earn royalties nearly 12 years later. The top song is from legendary boy band New Kids On The Block, and is supported by a pair of tracks from R&B singer Akon.

FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS:

With a Dollar Age of nearly 12 years, the three tracks in this listing have proven longevity.

The spike in earnings you’ll see for Q1 2018 was the result of a large international payment from Brazil. You'll notice increased royalties in Q2 and Q3 of 2019, which largely resulted from live performances and international earnings for “Summertime." These earnings spikes also explain the significant growth rates for the single.

ABOUT THE CATALOG:

New Kids On The Block, known affectionately as NKOTB to fans, was the original boy band that rocketed to massive, multi-Platinum success before disbanding in 1994. In 2008, the group reunited and released the single “Summertime,” which is the top-earning song in this listing. “Summertime” brought in 52% of royalties over the last 12 months.

This spike is largely due to live performances, thanks to the group's New Kids on the Block Live tour beginning in the fall of 2008 through the summer of 2010. These live performances are not likely to continue, and if so will result in live performance income falling in the future.

The two other songs in the listing are from the 2008 album Freedom by R&B singer Akon. One, “Be With You,” generated 45% of royalties in the last four quarters, and accounts for 72% of all-time catalog earnings. The other, “Clap Again,” rounds out the catalog at 4% of earnings.

Key Drivers

International Earnings. The majority of this catalog’s earnings come from abroad — at 75% of historical earnings. As the winner of this auction, you’ll be entitled to any past performance royalties paid by BMI, regardless of when they were earned. As this collection earns primarily from countries outside the United States, it’s important to note that international earnings can often be reported to distributors with limited detail. These international earnings often include income from radio, streaming platforms, and TV/Film.

Dollar Age. This catalog has a Dollar Age of approximately 11.86 Years. This means the majority of royalties earned in the last 12 months came from songs that have collected royalties for more than 11 years. A high Dollar Age like this suggests stability and longevity.
