This auction features public performance royalties from a catalog that includes songs by the alternative rock band Mutemath. The highest earning songs in the catalog come from Mutemath's third and fourth albums, Odd Soul (2011) and Vitals (2015). In all, the catalog earned $2,981 in the last 12 months.
Two songs in this catalog charted in Billboard's Top Alternative Songs Chart. “Blood Pressure” spent 12 weeks on the chart in 2011 and reached #28. “Monument” spent 3 weeks on the chart in 2015 and reached #35. Although “Monument” is less than two years old, it is already the highest earning song in this catalog.
One interesting note is that Mutemath just released a new album on September 8th, and is currently out on tour promoting the album. Songs from the new album are not included in this auction, but new album releases and tours can often drive interest in a band's back catalog.
Another thing to mention is that music from this catalog has been popular with TV programmers. 44% of the catalog's earnings come from TV and film placements. TV shows include Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Tonight Show, as well as ESPN/ABC's college football programming. You'll earn royalties every time new TV programming uses songs from this catalog as well.
New Album, New Tour. Mutemath's new album, Play Dead, was just released on September 8. Their new tour supporting the album began on September 14. New albums and tours can help reinvigorate artists' back catalogs, because the release of new music draws interest from first time listeners and also reengages existing fans.
