Up for auction is a collection featuring an even spread songs ranging from newer to more mature tracks, dating back to 2009. In the last 12 months, this collection has shown significant streaming growth and is on the rise.

This listing includes hit single “Swag Surfin’” from Fast Life Yungstaz, also known by acronym F.L.Y. This song was released in 2009 on F.L.Y’s first studio album Jamboree. It reached No. 7 seat on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart, and the album peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums chart. “Swag Surfin’” contributes to over 20% of historic earnings and nearly 15% of earnings in the last 12 months. This track is on the rise, showing 73% growth over the preceding year.

Earnings for this catalog are spread out evenly across a variety of additional tracks including Yakki Divioshi’s “Trill Luv,” “You The Boss” from Rick Ross featuring Nicki Minaj, Future’s “Magic” featuring T.I., and more. Collectively, these works contribute to a third of earnings in the last 12 months. It’s also worth noting as well that each individual work is showing quarterly growth.

This listing also features contributions from a number of additional noteworthy artists including Chief Keef, Lil Wayne, and Travis Porter. This collection also earns from multiple tracks from Roscoe Dash’s debut album Ready Set Go! including “All The Way Turnt Up” featuring Soulja Boy.

Key Drivers

Radio. Radio is the largest source of historic revenue for this catalog, accounting for 54% of historic royalties. Although radio royalties are still being generated, in recent years, they have leveled off. Typically, songs that experience significant radio play can often build a foundation for other types of income.

Case in point: streaming. Historically, streaming brought in 26% of royalties. In the last 12 months, however, streaming accounted for 74% of royalties. Streaming royalties are also seeing a 37% increase over the last 12 months. So as we're seeing as the radio royalties begin to slow down, other income sources, streaming in this case, begin to increase.

Hip-Hop/Streaming. This catalog is a perfect example of two trends: hip-hop and streaming's growth worldwide. Hip-hop overtook rock in 2017 as the most popular genre of music in the U.S. and now accounts for 31% of all music consumption. The driver for the increase is streaming. According to Rolling Stone, total consumption of Urban songs (Hip-Hop/Rap and R&B) by both streams and sales grew by 18% in the first half of 2018. Streaming accounts for 74% of this catalog’s earnings over the last 12 months and these earnings are up over 37% in the same period.
