This collection features over a dozen tracks by the well-established hip-hop artist Chief Keef, along with multiple newer hits from the up-and-coming hip-hop artist Trippie Redd. In the last 12 months, over 98% of earnings have come from streaming sources, reflecting significant growth in the last twelve months.
As streaming is driving music revenues overall, and for hip-hop music in general, these are positive trends.
The two top-earning tracks in this collection are newer releases from Trippie Redd. They include “Love Scars Pt 2. / Rack City” and “Blade of Woe,” both released in 2017. Collectively, the works contribute to nearly 70% of earnings in the last 12 months.
The next top-three earning tracks are older, released between 2012 - 2015, from hip-hop artist Chief Keef, including “My Lil N*****s,” “They Know” and “Shooters.” Collectively, these songs contributed to 16% of this collection’s earnings in the last 12 months. Hip-Hop/Streaming. This catalog is a perfect example of two trends: hip-hop and streaming's growth worldwide. Hip-hop overtook rock in 2017 as the most popular genre of music in the U.S. and now accounts for 31% of all music consumption. The driver for the increase is streaming.
According to Rolling Stone, total consumption of Urban songs (Hip-Hop/Rap and R&B) by both streams and sales grew by 18% in the first half of 2018. Streaming accounts for 98% of this catalog’s earnings over the last 12 months and these earnings are up significantly in the same period.
Streaming Sources. This collection’s highest-earning streaming sources are YouTube, Spotify, and Pandora, meaning that any time one of these tracks is streamed, you earn! On the streaming platform YouTube, Chief Keef has established a large following. Collectively, the music videos for Chief Keef tracks “My Lil N****s,” “Shooters” and “They Know” have over 50 million views on YouTube.

Additionally, Trippie Redd is featured on the esteemed Spotify curated playlist, “Rap Caviar” which claims an impressive 1.5 million listeners.
New Releases. Trippie Redd just recently released a new album Life’s A Trip in August of 2018. While the new songs are not included in this auction, new releases can help boost an artist's back catalog. The release of new music draws discovery among first-time listeners and re-engages existing fans.
