We recently sold the songwriter's share of this song. You can view that auction here. Now, we're auctioning the publisher's share!

This single song asset features royalties from theme music used in the long-running French radio series L'Heure Du Crime  “Crime Generik.” The song serves as the recognizable opening and closing theme played during each episode.

The program has aired on RTL for over eight years. The host Jacques Pradel is a well-known investigative journalist, writer, radio and TV host.

“Crime Generik” is the featured opening/closing theme of every single episode.  In 2018 alone, L'Heure Du Crime has produced over 50 episodes. The public performance royalties for "Crime Generik" account for 93% of this offering's income over the last year.

SACEM (the French royalty distributor) also collects mechanical royalties for the song. Mechanical royalties are paid when music is either physically sold (CDs), downloaded (iTunes), or streamed online (Spotify). As the winning bidder, you’ll collect these royalties as well. Mechanical royalties make up 7% of earnings for this catalog in the last year.

“Crime Generik” is used during the introduction and closing of every episode of L'Heure Du Crime. So you have the opportunity to earn royalties every time the show airs on the radio or is streamed on-demand. The radio show is the primary driver of earnings for this asset -- the song’s royalties are directly related to L'Heure Du Crime's airing.

The radio series is still producing new episodes, and is available via podcasts, resulting in a steady royalty income for “Crime Generik.” It’s important to take into consideration that if L'Heure Du Crime begins to air less frequently (currently 4 days a week) or stops airing at all, royalties for “Crime Generik” would decrease.

It's also worth noting that the radio station RTL has some long-running radio programs still on-air: Les Grosses Têtes (broadcasting since 1977!) and Ca Peut Vous Arriverwhich has been on-air since 2001.
