Description

Up for auction is a group of pop and hip-hop works featuring artists Zendaya, Timbaland and more. The royalties are built on a foundation of international success with 59% coming from overseas sources in the last 12 months.

Contributing to 42% of recent earnings is the 2014 release “Too Much” featured in the Disney film Zapped. The film first debuted on the Disney Channel, driving strong TV/Film royalties, which contribute to 18% of earnings historically. In recent years earnings for “Too Much” have grown on streaming services like Pandora, which features its own Disney-centric channel. In addition, the film Zapped now appears on Netflix and Hulu, driving Streaming Video source earnings – contributing to 13% revenue in the last 12 months.

This collection also features multiple Korean Pop tracks including “Yeo Wu Gat Eun Nae Chin Gu” and “Phi No Khi O,” from the band f(x). Most recently, in August 2019, f(x) officially reunited as a three-piece and performed at the three-night SM Town Live 2019 in Tokyo concert. The band has also received the Billboard nomination for “Top 10 K-pop Girl Groups of the Past Decade.”

Key Drivers

International. The majority of this catalog’s earnings come from abroad — at 61% of historical earnings. As the winner of this auction, you’ll be entitled to any past performance royalties paid by ASCAP, regardless of when they were earned. As this collection earns primarily from countries outside the United States, it’s important to note that international earnings can often be reported to distributors with limited detail. These international earnings often include income from radio, streaming platforms, and TV/Film.

Pop/Streaming. According to the BuzzAngle 2018 Music Report, pop titles were the second-most streamed songs last year, representing 19.3% of all streams, up from 15.6% in 2017. Streaming accounts for 17% of this pop catalog's earnings last year.
