Up for bid is copyright ownership and publishing revenue generated by a collection of blues/rock music, featuring by songs from the Grammy-nominated guitarist Joe Bonamassa, blues vocalist Beth Hart, and the critically-acclaimed group The Mavericks.
The income mix for this asset is evenly split between mechanical and performance sources, with each bringing in 45% of last year’s revenue. Notably, performance income saw 11% growth year-over-year.
Five songs from Joe Bonamassa’s 2014 album Different Shades of Blue are the foundation of this catalog — combined they account for 40% of last year’s royalties. The title track “Different Shades of Blue” is the highest-contributing song, bringing in 24% of income over the last four quarters. Different Shades of Blue debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, which makes it Bonamassa's highest-charting album to date, and his first top-10 on the chart.
“Caught Out In The Rain” is this catalog’s top-earning song with 45% of last year’s royalties. The track is performed by frequent Joe Bonamassa collaborator (and Grammy-nominee) Beth Hart. Released in 2012, “Caught In The Rain” saw a resurgence in popularity as it was used in a figure skating routine in the 2018 Winter Olympics. As a result, public performance earnings for the song rose significantly in Q3-2018.

The investment term is “at least 26 years” because U.S. copyright law gives artists and songwriters the right to terminate a copyright assignment after 35 years. The songwriter of this catalog may have the right to terminate the original copyright assignment, which occurred in 2010, beginning in 2045 (35 years from 2010).
