Description
This two-song catalog contains a platinum release from High Valley, and a track from former Canadian Idol contestant Jessica Mitchell.
FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS:
The vast majority of earnings for this listing are generated by “She’s With Me” by High Valley. There is a large spike in earnings in Q1 and Q2-2018 seen in the quarterly earnings bar chart on the Financials tab. This can be attributed to significant radio royalties (including airplay bonuses) from “She’s With Me,” which was re-released to U.S. country radio in April 2017 following its Canadian release in 2015.
ABOUT THE CATALOG:
This listing is our third to prominently feature the two-time Canadian Country Music Awards Group/Duo of the Year, High Valley. In this catalog, High Valley’s Platinum hit “She’s With Me” contributes significantly to total returns, bringing in 97% over the last 12 months.
Originally released in 2015 to the Canadian market and worldwide digital retailers, the track was re-released to the U.S. in 2016 and American country radio in 2017, resulting in a spike in earnings and a No. 8 spot on the Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.
Also included in this catalog is a track from Jessica Mitchell. Mitchell, a prolific singer/songwriter, brings the moody duet, “Somebody Gonna Get Hurt,” featuring Tim Hicks. Although the track has been earning since 2015 and was included on Mitchell’s 2018 album Heart of Glass, the duet was officially released in June 2019.
Key Drivers
Country Music & Radio. Country is the top-ranked radio format in terms of overall number of stations in the U.S. Radio royalties don't tend to level off as quickly with a popular country song compared to other genres. Yet songs with significant radio play can often transfer that audience to streaming and platforms as radio royalties ebb. As the winning bidder, going forward you'll collect the incoming radio royalties and other income sources — like streaming.
About the Royalty Distributor
Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) is one of four United States performing rights organizations, along with ASCAP, SESAC & Global Music Rights. It collects license fees from music users on behalf of songwriters, composers, and music publishers and distributes them as royalties to those members whose works have been performed.
